This month we learn about Senior Account Executive and Solution Architect, Pierre Bertrand.

A Quebec native, Pierre has spent decades working in the SaaS environment in both Quebec and here in Ontario. Uniquely for a Senior Sales professional, Pierre’s career hasn’t always been in Sales. He also has a strong background in Project Management, having worked in that field for much of his career.
What lead you to work in Sales?
“To be honest, it wasn’t a complicated process for me to switch from Project Management to Sales. Dirk Schrader (COO) approached me and asked if I’d be interested in helping them out there and I viewed it as a good opportunity to challenge myself in a different way.”
Does your Project Management background help you in Sales?
“Absolutely. Clients don’t view me as a guy just trying to sell them something. I have an understanding of how a project will evolve and play out and I’m able to bring that to the table early in the process. That builds trust with clients that allow us to smoothly proceed from the sales process to the project.”
You have a particular ability to help Field Services projects. Where does that come from?
“Just experience. Before I came here, I worked for a provider that specializes in equipment dealers. Field Service is a key component of their business. I’ve worked on dozens of projects and have gotten to know how that industry works and understand the people who work in the field. I can speak their language and I think that’s something they appreciate.”
What makes you most excited each day?
“I love a challenge. Working on big and complex projects is always exciting, and I love helping companies find the right solution for them.”
Outside of work, what do you like to do?
“Being active is very important to me. I am an avid skier and a black belt in karate. I find that karate is a great way to focus the mind and it has also provided me with a sense of community beyond work – I’ve trained with the same people for years and I cherish those friendships.”
